Grief Awareness Week
Death has been something of a taboo subject for quite a long time. We know that all of us will die at some point but we often don't talk about it, and maybe even avoid thinking about it, which can make bereavement even harder to deal with when we do experience it. Grief is a natural part of life and all of us will experience loss although how we experience it will be very personal and unique. There is an increasing interest in bringing the conversation into the open and encouraging people to talk about their experience of grief, and to think about loss before they experience it.
Grief Awareness Week was created in 2019 by the Good Grief Trust and takes place every year in the December. This year that will be December 2nd to 8th. It is an opportunity to bring an important topic into focus and an invitation for anyone struggling with grief, or curious about death and dying, to participate in activities and conversations about grief and loss. There will be a range of activities, curated by Haringey Grief Network and Haringey Reach and Connect. If this is something that you are interested in then do get in touch for more information.
If you have been affected by grief and want more information or support then the Good Grief Trust is a great place to start. They have a lot available on their website including practical advice, emotional support and links to other resources local to you.
