Big Swish and Swagger Recycled Fashion Show for the Over 50s

Come along to our BIG SWISH and SWAGGER RECYCLED FASHION SHOW for and by the OVER 50s in Haringey celebrating the AGE WITHOUT LIMITS DAY at the Tottenham Green Park, opposite the Tottenham Town Hall

Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

This special day challenges outdated perceptions and unhelpful messaging by showcasing that talent and style are never lost. We will focus on the positives of ageing can benefit us all.

We have been holding weekly recycled garment-making workshops at the Old Nursery in Tottenham with older Haringey residents. These workshops have been hosted to lead up to this joyful and fabulous over 50s Fashion Show.

We believe that older people have skills, talents, time and experience to draw on and often this is overlooked and ignored by the general public and even by older people themselves.

Internalised ageism is very detrimental to health, so we are aiming to challenge these unhelpful messages and promote positive, healthy ageing.

Our over 50s in Haringey will continue to rage against prejudice, strike a pose, vogue like the best of them and maintain a passion for fashion.

Our catwalk models will include local 50+ fashionistas, modelling recycled and extravagant outfits.

Huge thanks got to the Centre of Ageing better and Haringey People Need Parks for funding the workshops and the event itself, to TRAID for supplying us with fantastic materials, Donald Waugh from Pavement2Catwalk for facilitating and inspiring ideas and creativity, The Old Nursery for hosting the workshops, and Haringey Council People Need Parks and to the volunteers who have generously given their time to help in the workshops and on the day.
