On 7th June, Haringey Reach and Connect joined The Reader and other Voluntary and Community Sector organisations outside the pavilion in Bruce Castle Park to launch Loneliness Awareness Week 2024.

The event marked a celebration of community achievements and efforts to combat social isolation.

Haringey Reach and Connect, in partnership with The Reader, highlighted their continued collaboration, including the success of the Read and Connect project, Shared Reading Groups, at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre. This initiative, showcased in a video produced last year, emphasizes the power of shared reading to foster connections and reduce loneliness.

Several outstanding projects and their dedicated volunteers were honored at the event for their contributions to alleviating loneliness. A notable moment was when the Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Sue Jameson, presented an award to the Shared Reading volunteers, acknowledging their efforts in creating meaningful connections through the seven Shared Reading groups in the borough.
